I legitimately don’t think there is anyone who isn’t excited about this new project from World of Warcraft makers, Blizzard! I mean okay that’s a cinematic trailer that looks like something Disney would throw at us at the end of the year to stir up emotions (that’s not a bad thing!)!
Overwatch is a brand new team based multiplayer shooter, it’s also the first new project from Blizzard in years that wasn’t a spin off or expansion to World of Warcraft! The project is being anticipated by hundreds of thousands of eager players all over the world and has been met with positive remarks and critiques from the nearly the get go but there might be a slight snag for the game and it’s developer!
An application for a trademark on ‘Overwatch’ sought by Blizzard has been rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) because of a previously registered product by another company. Inovis Labs have also applied for the trademark for it’s app that is designed as “a tactical utility to enhance airsoft, paintball and first-person shooter gameplay events.”. Both applications are currently suspended due to their nature, both being held within the category of gaming.
Blizzard have yet to announce a statement on the matter but we’ll keep you updated as the story unfolds!
