Thought the heart of the cards was a thing of the past? Monday will bring the announcement through Shonen Jump magazine that there is a planned release for a brand new Yu-Gi-Oh film in 2016. Being announced in the magazine that 20 years ago began the Kazuki Takahashi manga Yu-Gi-Oh with the anime having been released in 2000ygo – has it really been that long? The film is set to follow original protagonist and his rival Seto Kaiba – but is said to be a completely new original story – a continuation perhaps?
The official website for the Yu-Gi-Oh film had launched a countdown clock much like the Digimon one – according to the countdown it will reach 0 on the 15th of December – all that is there bar the clock is the silhouettes of Yugi and Kaiba – new character designs maybe?
Kristen Gray – Senior Vice President of 4K Media Inc who distribute all that is Yu-Gi-Oh outside of Asia said back in June when the film development was announced that:
“We’re thrilled to bring the Yu-Gi-Oh! characters back to theater screens for their enthusiastic fan base.”
As if a brand spanking new film was not enough to announce it has also been revealed that the 2000 anime series of Yu-Gi-Oh will be re-mastered in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the franchise. The re-mastered anime will be premiering on TV Tokyo on February 7th 2015 with no word on a worldwide release date.
A nostalgic anime fans dream.
