The dust has barely begun to settle on Assassin’s Creed: Unity and already it looks like the next installment in the historical franchise is just about ready for an official announcement. Coming from Kotaku, a new report suggests the next location is Victorian London. Code-named victory, the game will take players ‘through the dirty back alleys and rattling stagecoaches of London during the Victorian era’ and will allegedly be the only AC title we see next year as Ubisoft make the leap to next-gen fully.
Being led by Ubisoft Quebec, the report on the project also came with some gameplay footage which shows a dark-coated assassin swinging through horse-drawn carriages and railway stations as they traversed the old city, with fights take place on moving vehicles and trains. Showing an emphasis on a grappling hook, it looks like they are moving towards some form of innovation in the series, something that has been decidedly needed as more installments come out.
Ubisoft had this to say on Kotaku’s report, seemingly confirming the legitimacy of the footage: “It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin’s Creed Unity for players.”
