If the excitement over the release of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix this Friday isn’t exciting enough then read on. Tai Yasue the co-director and game designer of Kingdom Hearts III expressed in an interview for Kotaku that nothing was off limits in the latest Kingdom Hearts – it has been nine years since Kingdom Hearts II was released and since then Disney have acquired some big names like Marvel andKingdom_Hearts_3 the Star Wars franchise (LucasFilm).
“Well, yeah. They’re all under consideration,” said Yasue. “Nothing’s off-limits, we’re considering all of the worlds. There are so many wonderful concepts. We’re happy about that, but at the same time it’s really tough to choose.”
Slowly we are getting more and more information on the upcoming Square-enix/Disney crossover (although a release date would be nice). It will be interesting if a Marvel universe is chosen or a world based on Star Wars how will this be worked into the game. Also since both could be played off as “Live-action” worlds much like previous games where we had Tron and Pirates of the Caribbean.
“We have to come up with a world that has a lot of originality. We want variety in our new Kingdom Hearts, so we don’t want too many of one sort of world, that would look the same. For each world there has to be some meaning for it, in the plot; in Birth By Sleep, for instance, in the Cinderella scene, the characters learn something specific by relating to Cinderella. Also, gameplay-wise, is that world something that would make gameplay fun? There’s a lot I can’t say, but there’s so much to consider.”

Watch this space – I will have updates as they come but for now enjoy Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix in all its glory released Friday 5th December – Collectors edition now available for pre-order from GameStop (€99.99).
