Everyone’s getting ready to say goodbye to 2014, it’s definitely been an eventful one for gamers… to say the least… there has been a lot of ups and just as many downs for all of us both the last few days are always about reflection and looking back on the last 365 days!
The gang here will all be sharing some of their favourite stuff from 2014 and to kick things off here are mine!
Favourite Game – Hyrule Warriors
I got a Wii U for Christmas and I’m a little late to the game I know but man… it is amazing! I’d fallen out of love with big Nintendo consoles save for my 3DS which saw more drawer action than my socks/jocks! There is something nostalgic for me though in this new little white box because I got my Nintendo 64 with a copy of Ocarina of Time and so when I unwrapped the Wii U and found a copy of Hyrule Warriors it was like being a kid again… until I remember I’d also fallen out of love with the Zelda franchise… or so I’d thought!
Hyrule Warriors takes all my favourite things about the series, the lore, characters, Zelda/Sheik and throws in my other favourite stuff like strategy, magical powers and did I say Zelda already? It completely throws the old formula of gameplay out the window, injects some colour and decent style into a Dynasty Warriors game and serves it up with some Hyrule realness – if you were on the fence before now… get off it and get it!
Favourite Music – Babymetal
These girls can do no wrong – I don’t like rock/metal music at all but I do like/love Babymetal and 2014 was the year that gave them to me…
Favourite Comics – Rat Queens
I was lent a copy of a Rat Queens Volume 1 by Naomi… I didn’t read it and when time came to hand it back I kind of had to pretend I had so to save further embarrassment I went out and bought my own amazing copy of the Kurtis J. Wiebe creation… best comic I read all year!

A group of drink loving, bar fighting, battle maidens who go by the name of Rat Queens find themselves in the midst of some disgruntled townsfolk who’d like to rid themselves of the girls and their cohorts what follows is an explosion of colour, humour, foul (but hilarious) language and some of the most interesting and lively characters this side of the pages – do yourself a favour and pick this up now!
Favourite TV – The Walking Dead
Whenever I find myself in need of a good cry I throw on The Walking Dead because a group of survivors struggling to carve a place for themselves in a world infested with the living dead is always going to move me to tears. 
I generally bulk watch TV shows, taking in seasons in a few days, yes I have to wait longer and there is the danger of spoilers but I prefer it that way… that is unless of course it’s The Walking Dead!
The fifth season break has left me heartbroken and driven many fans into an emotionally exhausted sense of being just when it couldn’t get any darker it seems that once the show picks up in 2015 then we’re headed from bad to worst… pretty fast! Can’t… frickin’… wait!
Favourite Moment…
I think it’s going to have be drinking whiskey for the first time in my life surrounded by brilliant friends and when you add the wonderful Missyeru and Pendleton Ward into that mix then you couldn’t ask for a better day!

So for 2015?
I’m looking forward to ArcadeCon, Avengers Age of Ultron, The Witcher III, The Legend of Zelda, EVOLVE, more The Walking Dead, Rat Queens, Saga and to continuing my work with TheArcade.ie (they made me say that!)
