A new Luigi’s Mansion game is apparently on the way, and that’s great news… If you live in Japan. Over the Halloween weekend, a test machine for a new installment in the green one’s much-loved franchise appeared in a Japanese arcade.
Luigi Mansion Arcade looks to be a light-gun, theater-sit-down style arcade game, much like Namco’s Deadstorm Pirates. While no official statement has been made on Capcom Japan’s website, pictures have surfaced online of the machine in use. This isn’t the first time Capcom and Nintendo have worked together to bring Nintendo titles to arcades, as New Super Mario Bros. Wii saw an arcade port, and while working with Namco Nintendo brought F-Zero and Mario Kart to arcades, the latter proving very popular over here. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, is quoted as saying that the company are going to continue to expand their licenses and properties.

Perhaps we’ll see Luigi’s Mansion in our local Leisureplexes then? Fat chance methinks, but its still great to see Nintendo expanding their products slowly but surely, helping cultivate new audiences and new ideas.
