Dave Lombardo is widely regarded as one of the finest drummers of all time, and the list of bands and records he’s worked with certainly speaks to such regard. Most famously working with Fantomas and thrash metal legends Slayer, Dave is now going to be going into movie soundtracks, by lending his percussive help to Joseph Bishara, composer of Annabelle, The Conjuring and the soon-to-be Insidious Trilogy.
Speaking to MetalThunderRadio, the legendary drummer stated, “I’m collaborating with Joseph Bishara, who is the music composer for the horror movies The Conjuring, Annabelle and Insidious. I’m working on Insidious 3 with Joseph, and we’re creating some drums for the new movie. I’m really excited to do this. I set up all the drums, today I ordered the drums that I’m gonna use. I’m gonna be performing with two cello players, a viola and a violin player under Joseph’s direction. And he’s an amazing composer. I’ve been listening to his stuff for a while now.”
I can’t say my opinion of the Insidious franchise is too high, but the soundtrack has been at the very least functional, and with this news I’m actually looking forward to the third installment. Scheduled for a Summer 2015 release, here’s hoping for an at least interesting soundtrack!
