According to a source close to the matter and who spoke with The WallStreet Journal, it would appear that Microsoft are “in serious discussions” with Mojang, the Swedish developers of the insanely successful game Minecraft.
The same article on TWJ values the deal between the companies at more than $2 billion dollars and there is a sense of eagerness in getting it pushed through. Neither company has addressed the article but it could be a huge gain for Microsoft, Minecraft has sold over 54 million copies worldwide and the majority of those sales are on consoles which would bode well for the Xbox One and 360 consoles.
