Xenoblade Chronicles Gets Port To New 3DS, Will Not Work On Old Hardware

Nintendo this morning announced yet ANOTHER new 3DS, and of course no console announcement is complete with a game to play on it. The new 3DS, called New 3DS, will see a port of the 2010 Wii title Xenoblade Chronicles, according to Polygon. Now, this is good news, that game was very well received and the handheld market is ripe for any and every kind of title to have a second life. The catch is that it will only work on the new hardware.
Apparently, the current 3DS doesn’t have the CPU power to run the game, but the new one will. “The remake is something they’ve previously wanted to do for the Nintendo 3DS, but were not able to due to its lack of CPU power, but now that it’s getting a boost with the newer version, it has been made possible,” as Polygon has reported.
As yet there are no plans to release the new 3DS outside of Japan.
