League of Legends developer Riot Games have taken further steps to solidify themselves as top dogs in the European eSports community by announcing the “4 Nations Tournament”. A UK and Ireland exclusive tournament Riot are aiming to bring officially licensed tournaments to smaller scenes with the aim of growing them.

The tournament will consist of the winner of the Razer sponsored tournament at Coventry’s Insomnia52 gaming convention, to be held on the 22-25 August, and a further seven teams who will be decided later throughout the year via online and offline tournaments. The details for the tournaments following Insomnia52 have yet to be announced. The team will enter a Round of 8 tournament in December with a prize pool of €8,000 on the line.

The requirements to make it in to the 4 Nations are:

  • All team members must be in a ranked team on EUW from the point of being qualified to the date of the finals (up to 9 people).
  • You must be 18 years of age by December 2014, when the final will take place.
  •  All team members on the starting roster MUST have been a resident of the UK or Ireland for 3 months prior to the final event.

Irish eSports is growing with successful league tournaments this year. No doubt there are a few teams in the country ready to hit the rift for this.
