Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has addressed rumours that the Marvel Netflix series characters could possibly join the characters in the Marvel movie universe. Producing a television show is a costly venture, producing a movie is even more expensive so while the rumours were there, nothing has ever been said or put in writing but now Sarandos admitted the idea of a crossover has been … at the very least talked about.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, the CCO commented “It has definitely been talked about” and Sarandos went on to explain her the Netflix exclusive shows including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage will follow a similar development model to the Avengers:
“It was really based on the theatrical model of The Avengers. Could you take another group of characters, The Defenders, and go about it the same way? Normally they do the big movie and then eventually they get to the group origin story. Having 13 hours to tell each of these stories, you can go right to the origin story and the action at the same time”
What’s that mean? Well each of their characters are to receive their own thirteen episodes with each of their stories culminating in another special series with all four together under the umbrella of the Defenders.
Excited? I know I a bloody am!
