Lego Fusion – You are the Master Builder

Lego have really stepped it up on the mobile gaming charts with their latest game Lego Fusion bringing real world creatings using Lego’s classic bricks and digital technology that brings it to life.
Lego’s Future Lab recently announced this new series play kits that will allow children and adults to create their own virtual worlds by first building them in real live.
Town Master, is the first of four sets  with the kit including  over 250 pieces for building a variety of homes and you can download the game for free from iOS and Google play. The three other sets: Battle Towers, Resort Designers and Create and Race, will be out by late August.
Lego-fusion-scan-finalThe game works by creating a 2D building of whatever you want to put into your virtual world. A photo is taken using the smartphone or tablet and the Fusion app takes care of the rest. Its quite a delightful thing to see Lego construction workers onscreen getting to work with building your creation. Once your building or creation is ready to go, you will have to finish a series of missions such as putting out fires, capturing robbers and making sure that the villagers are happy.
Further details of the other kits have come out as well. Battle Towers involves you building a tower and choosing a few citizens in your village to run the gamut from wizards to archers, Create and Race allows you to design a race car on the app and then gives you instructions to build with bricks. The fourth installment will  allow you to design the interiors of a beach resort for your designers.

“In our research, we heard repeatedly from parents that they are constantly battling ‘zombie gaze,’ the experience when their children are immersed in their device screens for large blocks of time,” says Ditte Bruun Pedersen, senior design manager at Lego Future Lab, in a statement. “We developed Lego Fusion with this challenge in mind, creating a play experience that keeps children entertained with the kind of app gameplay they love while giving real reasons to return to the brick pile to creatively build.”
The set up is quite minimal it seems with the gameplay being very engaging and encouraging. The only downside that I can potentially see is that you would probably need a mobile device with a good camera and lighting should be good as it might misread the blocks.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this. Lego have really outdone themselves and have allowed people to feel like their lego is really coming to life.
