J. K. Rowling released another new slice of Harry Potter canon today with a short story for users of her official virtual Harry Potter experience, Pottermore. The 500-word short story is, this time, aimed at one of the more minor characters in the Potter-verse, the ‘singing sorceress’ Celestina. Adding extra facts about the characters, as well as fleshing out her origin and who she is to the universe outside of Molly Weasley’s obsession, the post was made in the game this morning, and thanks to IBN Live, we can all share in it.

Of the character, Rowling stated, “Celestina is one of my favorite ‘off-stage’ characters of the whole series, and has been part of the Potter world since it’s inception.” Adding “Although we never lay eyes on Celestina during the whole seven volumes of the Potter books, I always imagined her to resemble Sherley Bassey in both looks and style.” Her full statement and the full short story can be found here.
