Recently published by Dark Horse Comics, Star Wars comics are soon to be published by Marvel. This is a logical move considering that Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars franchises. This new venture will be coming in 2015 and will be getting three shiny new comic book series featuring Star Wars, Darth Vader and Princess Leia.
Featured writers and artists will include: writer Jason Aaron (Thor, Original Sin), artist John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men) and colorist Laura Martin. For the Star Wars series Darth Vader will feature writer Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca and Princess Leia will feature writer Mark Waid (DC’s Kingdom Come) and artist Terry Dodson (one of my favorites). The three series will take place right after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. And the most important thing of all; these series will be canon in the Star Wars universe.

The stage version of the beloved family-friendly adventure/romance The Princess Bride has just launched a new site in order to offer fans the chance to be provided with updates on the new project’s development as it plays out. The Princess Bride stage adaptation was originally announced back in 2006, set to feature a score by Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist Adam Guettel and a book by two-time Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Goldman based on his own screenplay and novel of the same name. But in early 2007, Goldman and Guettel abandoned the musical adaptation citing contract disputes according to reports at the time. The project was resurrected by director Jason Reitman with much success, featuring a starry assortment of performers including Paul Rudd, Mindy Kaling, Patton Oswalt and original big screen players Cary Elwes, Fred Savage and director Rob Reiner.
The official website presents the title of the project along with a newsletter sign-up option with the message, “Be among the first to receive news about the stage adaptation of The Princess Bride as it becomes available.”

Some 20 years after the Interview With A Vampire film, the rest of Anne Rice’s book series The Vampire Chronicles have been picked up by Universal. Universal have recently announced they are remaking their classic monster movie-verse, starting with The Mummy in 2016, but its unknown if these will tie into that in some way or another. Rice’s son, Christopher Rice, has already completed the screenplay for Tales of the Body Thief, while Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have been set to oversee and produce the series.

The Lego Movie was a runaway success and one of the audience favorites across the board this year, and they will continue their parade of awesome straight into a trilogy from Warner Bros. Coming out of The Hollywood Reporter, the second Lego Movie had already been dated for May 26th 2017, but now a third looks like it will be landing in May 24th 2019. Warners’ Lego Ninjago franchise is set to begin in 2016, with a sequel to that rumored for 2018.
This makes a lot of sense for the franchise, lets hope everything remains awesome in the sequels!
