True Detective was a true hit (sorry) on television this year. It’s gritty, dark narrative and stunning on-screen pairing in Woody Harrellson and Matthew McConnaughey was much enjoyed and much celebrated. Despite this, details have been scant on the show’s second season, and when it would film/air.. Until now, that is.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, HBO Programming Director Michael Lombardo stated, “We’re going to start shooting in September for it to air next summer. It will bedifferent characters, a different setting. It’s set in California, all of California. There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say. We’ll probably be announcing casting soon.”
Lombardo has apparently read outlines for a couple of episodes already, and unlike the first season which was directed entirely by Cary Fukunaga, there will more than likely be ‘three or four’ directors used this time around. The season is expected to go to air sometime in 2015, with filming expected to begin in September.
