article-2305431-1923D201000005DC-241_634x611Infamous hacker group Anonymous has reportedly taken down the website of the Israeli Secret Service Mossad in protest of the incursion in Gaza. For the last month Anon have systematically attacked various websites including IDF and Tel Aviv Police. In the last few days however it became personal when a member of the “hactivist” group was killed in the West Bank last weekend.
As part of a widespread campaign called #OpSaveGaza earlier this month, Anon have targeted a number of organisations spanning 100 websites, in their mission to stop the “Genocide”.  However it is hard to estimate the impact the action is having with Israel claiming that there has been little to none.
While many of the websites are still offline some are now back up and running including the Israeli Defence Forces.
The Anon team claimed last week to have expanded their efforts bringing the attacks to the US government claiming that they have an equal part to play and further claims state that they have defaced over 35 US government websites. The group reportedly have also released log in details of some 170 Israeli officials this week. .
Anonymous have posted details on how to download automated tools which carry out the DDoS attacks.
The website belonging to Mossad, the Israeli Secret Service is now also back online having been offline intermittently for the last seven days.
Anonymous has not announced how long they plan to continue the DDOS operation, however if their Twitter page is any indication, it appears #OpSaveGaza will rage on as long as the conflict in Gaza continues.
