Today appears to be about addressing rumours for in Hollywood and Marvel are doing their fair share! Fans have been whispering about a standalone Hulk movie with the gamma goliath’s popularity soaring with thanks to his depiction by Mark Ruffalo, many speculated that the green giant could team up with the newest Marvel team, the Guardians of the Galaxy. That speculation and the rumours have been shot down spectacularly today!
In an interview with IGN, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president said “He’s a gladiator, he’s fighting all these creatures on another world. Yes, some of those creatures show up in (Guardians of the Galaxy), which makes people think, ‘Oh, maybe it could exist.’ And maybe it could exist, someday. I don’t think that’s the first place we would go though for the very reason that you stated, which is, if we were ever able to do a standalone Hulk movie, 60 percent of the fun would be seeing Mark Ruffalo leading a Marvel movie — and that’s what we would do if we ever went down that road.”
If you need more a more stern and direct approach to the rumour then Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn also came with a more colourful statement in an interview with The Playlist:

So that’s that then! Disappointed? I kind of am, I really enjoyed the animated film which saw Hulk abandoned on an alien planet by the Avengers. Here the Hulk is enslaved and forced to fight in gladiator battles alongside other aliens for a society under the control of a ruthless dictator.
