New Assassin’s Creed Trailer Reveals A New Female Character

Ubisoft have just revealed a seemingly prominent new female character for Assassin’s Creed, but don’t get too excited yet… because she’s a Templar.

Ubisoft recently came under fire when it was revealed that Assassin’s Creed: Unity wouldn’t feature a playable female character. But now with Elise debuting in the games latest trailer, I have to wonder, was Elise planned from the beginning or added to pacify or somehow make amends with consumers. But unless I’m missing it there seems to be no mention of  Elise being part of the multiplayer.

Ubisoft’s press release describes the character as being, ‘central to Assassin’s Creed Unity’s story’ and ‘an independent young noblewoman, it goes on to say, ‘Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him’.

I
f your asking me, Elise’s involvement certainly seems to have been planned since day one, she’s even getting her own novel by regular Assassin’s Creed writer Oliver Bowden. Which for me is definitely welcome news.

Another ‘hunch‘ I’ve got that seems to allude to Elise being a major player in this game is that you can now also pre-order ‘a high quality figurine’ of ‘Elise: The Fiery Templar’, which can be combined into a single diorama with the Arno: The Fearless Assassin figurine.

Why bother making a spin-off novel and and intricately detailed figurine for a mere DLC character? I think we could be looking at another Maria Thorpe styled character here.

I’m sure other Assassins-Creedophiles will remember the character Maria Thorpe from Oliver Bowden’s first novel with the franchise ‘The Secret Crusade‘. Maria a high ranking Templar character, crosses paths with our boy Altair and soon enough a bond is forged between the two and yada yada yada (go read the book.)

So will Elise and Arno’s characters follow a similar faith and give credence to latest title ‘Unity?’
