League of Legends “A New Dawn” Cinematic Hits the ‘Net

I was a big fan of Riot Games’ previous foray into short-form cinematics, A Twist of Fate. But while that was a series of unconnected vignettes involving a couple of champions at most each time, A New Dawn focuses on an all-out battle between two teams of five in the jungle of Summoner’s Rift.

One of the things I like most about the cinematics is that they provide a look at how the world of Valoran looks inside its own reality: what we see in-game on Summoner’s Rift isn’t meant to be 100% representative of how that world would actually function, instead it’s meant to provide a clean and readable game experience. With the cutscenes, the team is allowed to go all-out depicting things like just how powerful Graves’ Buckshot is and how massive and terrifying Nautilus would look in reality.

It’s a fast-paced, action-packed look at how the League of Legends universe would actually work (although it’s remarkably easier to follow than almost any teamfight in LoL) and it’s worth the six minutes of your time. And if you haven’t seen the Twist of Fate cinematic either, that comes highly recommended too.
