I’ve got to admit, Final Fantasy at the moment is not the franchise I once adored in my teen years. A few bad eggs really haven’t done the series any favors. That said, its stuff like this that remind me why I loved it in the first place, as Final Fantasy 14 welcomes gay marriage as a relationship option in the game. The decision has gone down so well, the game’s players have decided to have a virtual pride parade in the game!
Coming from Slade, the Rough Trade Gaming Community organized the online occasion by having the members of the guild walk in formation in colored groups decided by armor so as to appear like a rainbow. The event has been dubbed ‘pixel pride’. Speaking on behalf of the decision, the game’s producer Naoki Yoshida stated “Why should there be restrictions on who pledges their love or friendship to each other? And so we decided to go this way.”
