Edward Scissorhands To Get Sequel Comic Series From IDW

IDW publishing have been knocking it out of the park this year with about as many licenses as you can shake a stick at. But the most interesting of them all, at least in my opinion, is the Edward Scissorhands sequel series which will begin in October. Coming from Dread Central, the series will start directly after the movie and will be Edward’s first foray into the comic book world. What’s better is the team IDW have put together for the project, with Kate Leth (Adventure Time) writing the story, Drew Rausch (Haunted Mansion) providing the art and Locke and Key veteran Gabriel Rodriguez giving us the first cover.

Speaking on behalf of the series, IDW editor Sarah Gaydos stated “We’ve found a team in Drew and Kate, along with a crew of top cover artists who are not only exceptionally worthy of the task, but are bringing something completely fresh and relevant to the table.”  With Leth adding “We’re taking the story forward in time and telling a bit of a girl detective story—one of my favourite genres—a bit closer to modern times but still with that eerie, anachronistic touch. It’s a bit creepy, a bit scary, but always full of wonder. Drew and I have so much love for the film, and we like to think it shows. Keep your eyes peeled for easter eggs and plenty of spirals…”

The first issue is set to hit shelves in October, and you can find Kate Leth before then at DICE 2014 here in Dublin!
