Irish Artists Up for True Believers Awards
The True Believers Awards (formerly the Eagle Awards) are a series of awards for those involved with the creation of comics. The standard of nominees is always incredibly high and this year is no different.
Names like Jim Lee and Alan Moore float around, but this year, we see a few more familiar faces in the mix.
Irish artist, Jordie Bellaire is up for Favourite Colourist with her partner, Declan Shalvey being up for Favourite Rising Star Artist. Both have worked for Marvel comics and have made a great name for themselves.
What I was truly overjoyed to see was Leeann Hamilton’s name. Leeann is the artist and writer for Finn and Fish, one of my favourite Irish comics. Making her big debut in the ‘Rising Stars of Manga’ contest held by TokyoPop, Leeann’s come on leaps and bounds since. She’s made a solid name for herself in the comics world. Her unique art style is eyecatching and dynamic, and her writing is some of the best I’ve read.
Leeann’s comic, Finn and Fish is up for Favourite European Comic Book, and I urge you all to do two things; buy the comic and vote for it. You won’t regret it.
