It seems Maleficent has gotten a large ball rolling, with The Jungle Book and Cinderella joining the Disney live action ranks over the next couple of years. Now, Beauty and the Beast has been confirmed to be in the works as a live action film. Coming from Variety, Disney have tapped Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 and 2 director Bill Condon to spearhead the adaptation.
Twilight isn’t the only thing on Condon’s resumé, thankfully. His other works include The Fifth Estate, Dream Girls and Chicago, all of which are critically acclaimed. As yet, no release date has been speculated.
