Not a man to shy away from the weird and wonderful, Mr. Pacific Rim himself Guillermo Del Toro has lent a hand or two to upcoming fantasy animation The Book of Life. Channing Tatum and Zoe Saldana spearhead a huge cast for the whimsical adventure, and we have our first trailer!
Directed by Jorge Guiterrez, The Book of Life looks very distinctive indeed with it’s CG animation and Romeo and Juliet-esque tale. The official synopsis reads:
THE BOOK OF LIFE is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, THE BOOK OF LIFE encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.
The Book of Life is due in theaters October 17th 2014
