Irish Sci-Fi TV series Collider has made another leap and has been nominated for best ‘Cross Platform Fiction” at BANFF 2014 Rockie Awards, an internationally recognized awards program from more than 40 counties in 26 categories – competing against BBC’s Dr. Who and CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries.

This is COLLIDER’s second International Award nomination, having being nominated for an International EMMY last month. The year is 2018 and Earth has been destroyed following natural disasters and the Unknown, a mutant race, emerge from the destruction and lie in wait for the 6 characters. Shot in Dublin, COLLIDER is a fusion of all your classic sci-fi themes including time travel, black holes and wormholes, nasty creatures and of course the looming apocalypse. COLLIDER is a full digital cross-platform experience including a series 8* 11’ Webisodes, two mobile Apps (iOS and Android),  a collection of 6 comic books and a feature film that was in Irish Cinemas last January. Shot in Dublin, COLLIDER features Iain Robertson (Plunkett & Macleane, The Contractor, Band of Brothers) and Lucy Cudden (Pulp, Judas Ghost, Afterlife).

Directed by Jason Butler (Republic of Telly, The Rubberbandits) it is inspired by the graphic novel of the same name created by award winning and Emmy-nominated writer-producer Nuno Bernardo (Sofia’s Diary, Beat Girl, and Final Punishment) and produced by Triona Campbell and John McDonnell.

This is a huge achievement for COLLIDER as over 250 independent industry executives working in film and television selected the nominees.

beActive – the award winning TV, Film and Digital studio behind COLLIDER among others (“Sofia’s Diary” for Sony Pictures Television, HBO primetime series “The Line” and “Living in your Car”, Emmy-nominated Brazilian miniseries “Final Punishment”, Irish interactive TV series “Aisling’s Diary” and the UK film co-production “The Knot”) had this to say about their recent success:

“Everybody at beActive is really proud of the success of the recognition that COLLIDER is getting among our peers. The international market is responding well to our SCI-FI series and after being sold to key territories, including Japan and Scandinavia, we are now seeing the series also being recognized at the most importat events and awards cerimonies” said Triona CampbellCOLLIDER’s producer, from Dublin. “After being nominated for an EMMY, it’s amazing that we are also conquering the competitive North-American market”.

beActive has a decade of experience in story and format development, international co-productions, licensing and distribution of entertainment content across multiple platforms behind their belt and with this recent success it’s no wonder why they are so successful!
