The Yogscast are a group of broadcasters that were founded in 2008 by Simon Lane and Lewis Brindley. The name was derived from the title letters of a previous world of warcraft guild that they were all a part of called “Ye Old Goons”.

The channel initially gained popularity with its videos about the World of Warcraft but it was really the videos about Minecraft that brought the channel some serious attention. Through time, the Minecraft series started to get a personality of it s own. Yogscast started to turn it into a comedy drama which was renamed Shadow of Israphel. The series then expanded to produce coverage of updates of Minecraft, going through a series of challenge maps designed by members of their community, how-tos, musical parodies of minecraft and much much more

The Yogscast made many musical parodies, with their most popular video being “Screw the Nether” based on the music of Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”. The second most popular was “Form This Way” based on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”.

Yogscast is all about viewer engagement. Their success is down to the old fashioned values that they stay true to, such as rather than focusing on increasing the volume of viewers that are about improving the engagement and quality of what they produce.

They can and will only go up from here.
