Logan hasn’t had the best run of late, what with writer Paul Cornell stripping away his healing factor at the end of Wolverine Vol. 5 and Three Months to Die set for release in June, it seems the Wolverine’s days are truly numbered. Today, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, it has been confirmed that Marvel’s favorite adamantium clawed hero would be meeting his end in a new mini-series in September called Death of Wolverine.

Written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Steve McNiven (of Old Man Logan fame), the four issue weekly book will finally see the demise of the beloved character, who made his debut almost 40 years ago. Editor Mike Marts said about the series “You’re gonna be entering into a world without Wolverine. That affects not only his teammates, but also the Marvel Universe at large. We’ve got a lot of things in the works already.” with Soule adding “I hope that when people finish it, they’ll feel like he died in a way that was true to him.”

Death of Wolverine #1 is scheduled to hit shelves September 3rd, with Death of wolverine #4 finishing the weekly series on September 24th.

    1. I do wish some people in comic universes would die for real. Even if it was Wolverine. There are no stakes in mainstream comics anymore.

And if and when he does come back, I hope they make him work for it. And that when he does come back nothing goes back to normal.
