There’s been rumours of a ‘Minecraft’ movie floating about the internet for quite some time now, but nothing ever emerged from it. There were a couple of fans on ‘KickStarter’ who pitched a fan-film, but that was hastily taken down by Minecraft creator, Markus “Notch” Persson. Notch spoke on the matter saying; ‘We don’t allow half a million kickstarters based on our IP without any deals in place.’
But now recently, in a Tweet from Notch, we can gather that a movie is indeed happening!
Someone is trying leak the fact that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!

Now, obviously this isn’t 100% confirmed, it’s just a cryptic tweet, but Notch then later told Polygon.com; ‘
“It’s for real,” he said. “I think every part of that tweet was real, including me wanting to be the one to spill the news about a potential movie.”
“It would be nice to tell people when it’s 100 percent solid rather than to leak it before it’s completely final,” he added, “but our hands were a bit tied and rushed here.”
Personally, I love ‘Minecraft’, but I think making a live-action movie MIGHT be a bit of a stretch.
