Watch Dogs still on track for April to June, Wii U version delayed

One of the biggest games of 2012’s E3 was without a doubt WatchDogs, but in recent months the hype has certainly died down. Well if you still have a interest in the cyberpunk style open world adventure, its gotten a update in terms of releases.  CEO Yves Guillemot has spoken out on the matter stating “Fiscal 2014-15 will see an exceptional games line-up, with the release of five major titles including Just Dance, The Crew and Watch Dogs which is scheduled for release in the first fiscal quarter. ”  Now while this is great news for us PC, PS3, Xbox One, PS4 and Xbox 360 users, but if you were planning on playing on Wii U, well sadly you will have to wait.

“We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft. ” While this is a massive shame for Wii U owners, I really cannot blame them. With the amount of developers just backing out from the Wii U and its horrendous sales, its just not a profietable console right now. While its not canceled, its just yet another hit for the Wii U’s image.

Pillars of Eternity coming this Winter

You may have heard of the developer Obsidian, as their experience on popular titles has been building up over the last few years, from Fallout New Vega to the newer South Part The Stick of Truth, they really have proved themselves when it comes to ARPG’s. Well last year they started a kickstarter for their new project,   Pillars of Eternity. After getting more then enough money($3, 986, 929) to produce a classic 90’s PC RPG like Baldur’s Gate or Planescape: Torment. Well the game has finally gotten a release window for the end of the year. While the game was originally meant to release this Summer, it needed more time due to the game growing far bigger then they expected. I just hope this doesn’t turn into another Broken Age.

Raving Rabbitz get their own movie

If for some reason you still care about the Rabbitz (I can’t stand the things these days. . . ) they have been reported to be getting their own film. Yes that’s right, Ubisoft is partnering with Sony Pictures to bring the annoying little creatures to the big screen. By the sounds of it the movie will be a blend of live-action and animation (so possibly another Smurfs). No current release date has been given, but Ubisoft is working very closely with Sony Pictures to keep the image of the Rabbitz unchanged from the jump from videogames to Film.

Dark Souls II recieves a ‘T’ Rating

So in a bit of a odd piece of news now, Dark Souls II has received a ‘T’ rating from the ESRB. While the original game was not exactly a family friendly title, and recieved a 16 rating. or M for mature.  Dark Souls II will still contain blood and gore, mild language, partial nudity, and violence. This is a very confusing move, as usually when it comes to ratings for video games they usually receives a much harsher result, but for some reason or another Dark Souls II is actually getting a downgrade in terms of mature rating’s.  Will the game not be as dark or bloody as the last title? was serious censorship put in place? We will just have to find out. Its just odd that something like Elder Scrolls Online gets a Mature rating and this receives a 16 rating.

Square Enix claims that Final Fantasy XV is “Quite far into development

For many fans of the Final Fantasy series are putting all their hopes on Final Fantasy XV after the less then stellar XIII series. And with the reveal of it now being the long awaited Final Fantasy versus XIII reborn into the next title in the series, we really really really need it to be good, and so does Square Enix. Well recently series producer Yoshinori Kitase has come out and discussed the issue of their development with Videogamer. com saying that it is “quite far into development”.

“We can’t give too much information but certainly looking at Final Fantasy XV, it’s not as if it’s in competition with Kingdom Hearts III for resources or anything like that, ” Kitase recently told Videogamer.  ”It’s quite far into development now and it is being given a very high priority within the company itself, but that doesn’t mean Kingdom Hearts isn’t. ”

If Square Enix hit gold with Final Fantasy XV, then the company could really be onto a winner, with Kingdom hearts III coming shortly after. I just hope they know what they are doing.

Fable Legends using a ‘Games As Service’ model

The Fable series has been a predominantly story driven series and used a one buy time business system, but it seems that the latest game in the series “Fable Legends” will be using what Lionhead Studio’s are calling “games as service” model. John Needhamn, studio chief spoke out on the subject in a interview with Edge, stating  “That’s the nature of games as a service – you keep adding systems and features and content. ” When asked exactly what this would mean for the business model. This  could mean really anything at this point, free to play, Micro transactions or even a subscription model. This could either breath new life into the series, or destroy it with awful business practices, like a lot of current Gen titles, cough Ryse son of Rome cough.

The Evil Within gets a release date

If you have been waiting for the next horror game by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil), The Evil Within, well then we finally have some good news for you. The game was unveiled at last years E3 and will be a return to the classic horror games of the PS1 such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill. No more news came out about it other then a few trailers here and there, but really news on the title has been very quite. Well now from a Tweet from the publisher, Bethesda Softworks, the game will be releasing on August 26th of this year. While I myself am not a fan of horror games at the best of times, I still can respect the return to the classic formula that Shinji Mikami is so famous for.

The Evil Within is being released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC.

Unsung Story reaches its Kickstarter Goal

Possibly the best news I have all week now, as Unsung Story has been officially been funded on its last day. With only 10 hours to spare, the strategy RPG title raked in $620, 000. Now the game has reached its goal, Yasumi Matsuno (Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story) and his team will be working on the title which is scheduled for a July 2015 release. The game is being released on PC, Mac, Linux, Windows tablets, Android and iOS. As a fan of strategy tactic RPG, this is fantastic news. The project has an amazing amount of talent behind it, and I wish them good luck on developing the game.

Little Mac Punches into Super Smash Bros

Well this week  another Nintendo Direct happened, and boy was it a big one. My favorite story that came out of the presentation was without a doubt the reveal of Little Mac from Punch Out as playable character in Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS. In the past Little Mac has only ever shown up as an assist trophy in Brawl, but now hes in for the fight. He looks to be a very interesting character, as all his moves are centered around boxing, but he has some very interesting special moves, such as a 1 hit kill K. O move that charges up until you are able to preform it. His Final Smash includes a large Giga Mac version of Himself that was originally featured in Punch Out for the Wii. He looks to be a very unique and fast type character, and I cannot wait to try him out.

Mario Kart 8 trailer shows off new tracks and the Koopalings

Next up for the Nintendo news is a new trailer for Mario Kart 8 thats shows off some new additions and characters. The biggest part of the trailer has to be the inclusion of all 7 Koopalings as playable characters. This includes Larry Koopa, Lemmy Koopa, Roy Koopa, Iggy Koopa, Ludwig von Koopa, Morton Koopa Jr and Wendy O. Koopa all as playable characters (fun fact, all the koopalings are named after famous musicians).

Mario Kart 8 releases on May 30 on Wii U.

New Kirby:Triple Deluxe trailer and release date

Kirby:Triple Deluxe his the latest in the long running Kirby franchise, and was released in Japan about a month ago. At the latest Nintendo Direct , a new trailer for the game was shown off. The trailer shows off Kirby’s new abilities such as Beetle, Bell, Archer, Circus Kirby and not forgetting the newest addition to the gameplay, HyperNova Kirby, which allows him to swallow nearly any large item on the screen. A release date was also given, as we can expect the game to be out on the 16th of May for the 3DS.

New trailer for Yoshi’s New Island shows off new gameplay

Another trailer for a 3DS game now, as we get to see more of Yoshi’s New Island.  The trailer showed off some new transformations that have become iconic with the series, and even a few new ones, including a jackhammer transformation that allows you to dig through rocks. The Mega Egg is shown off some more, including a new metal version. We also got to see a new mechanic called the flutter wings. These allow you to fly through the level, bypassing  any difficult areas. This gameplay addition has been added for new players or younger children who get stuck in certain levels.

Yoshi’s New Island releases on the 14th of March for 3DS.

New gameplay for ‘X’ shown

Monolith Soft, developers of Xenoblade chronicles for the Wii revealed their latest title ‘X’ (working title) off at last years E3 to many fans delight. The title seemed to be another title in the Xeno franchise, and by the look of the gameplay shown off in the trailer it certainly seems that way. The battle system seems to be extremely similar, if not just a upgraded version of Xenoblade chronicles. The big addition of course is the new Mech’s that you are able to pilot. Back when the game was originally shown off at E3, it seemed like the Mech’s wouldn’t be always free to you, but from this footage it seems so quick and streamlined, I mean you just need to hop on in and get straight to fighting. While the game may still be in development, I cannot wait to see what magic Monolith Software brings to the table.

Bayonetta 2 gets a new story trailer

Out of all the games coming up for the Wii U, Bayonetta 2 certainly doesn’t fit in at all, but boy does it relish in making Nintendo executives uncomfortable. I just love seeing Nintendo bringing out all their family friendly products like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Super Smash Bros, and then there’s just Bayonetta, doing her thing. A new trailer was shown off at the presentation, and damn is it silly as all hell. When shes not  backflipping or slapping mechanical angel donkeys on the ass, shes attempting to talk about the em. . ‘Plot’.

New trailer for Mario Golf: World Tour shows off Castle Club Mode

The latest in the long running Mario golf series is coming out in May, but we still have a few more things to learn about. One new addition to the gameplay is the introduction of Castle Club Mode. This mode allows you to import your Mii to your 3DS and level up and participate in tournaments to stack up skills and train, so in a way its a career mode but with RPG elements. I myself always found the Mario Golf series very relaxing, and is a weird little time waster.

Mario Golf: World Tour releases May 2nd.

Pokemon Battle Trozei announced

A new match 3 puzzle game was announced in the pokemon series at the presentation  which goes by the name ‘Pokemon Battle Trozei’. The interesting new change to the usual match 3 gameplay is that you are also battling pokemon at the top of the screen, and the more matches you rake up, the more powerful your attacks are.

Pokemon Battle Trozei releases 20th March for 3DS.

NES remix 2 announced for April

The popular NES remix is getting a sequel with NES remix 2. The original saw Nintendo taking beloved games from the NES console and changing them around with interesting new gameplay additions. This new version changes up classic titles like Super Mario Bros by adding Samus to collect coins or tasks Link to defeat the Hammer Bros. Along with all this new mini games, the game will also include the full version of Super Luigi Bros, a pallet swapped version with Luigi of the original title.
