Welcome to Music Monday; where we try to break the monotony of your work morning with some bad ass tunes.

For BDK – What I Must Find

Adele Kosman and Marcus Borrman, collectively known as For BDK, define their particular brand of electro-pop as ‘drugbeat’. I’m not entirely sure what that means. What I am sure of is that their latest offering What I Must Find is a seriously slick, synthed up slice of epic europop that deserves a place on your iPod right now.

Hello Monroe – Another Love Song

It’s possible that you’ve heard about the Irish/English, hands-across-the-ocean collective known as Hello Monroe before. If you have, you might as well forget whatever you remember because their comeback single Another Love Song is a radical departure from what you’re probably used to. Thankfully, it’s the good kind of radical departure. Another Love Song drips with attitude from the thumping beats and grisly guitars all the way to the sickly sweet vocals layered on top. It’s pretty much what would happen if Sleigh Bells wrote a track for Katy Perry and if that doesn’t hook you in I don’t know what will.

Stellar – Marionette

I think I’m getting a bit of a reputation at this stage for having a penchant for Korean girl bands. Well, far be it from me to let you all down. This week’s serving of K-Pop comes from Stellar. Stellar have flown under a lot of radars since they appeared which is mysterious given how awesome Marionette, their debut single, actually is. A deceptively intricate mix of electronica, pop and funk, Marionette will probably have you dancing before you’ve even noticed the slick blues guitar licks hiding under all that bass. These girls deserve some love, go give it to them.

Frankmusik – Dear Nicole

If you’ve somehow gone this long without hearing of Frankmusik, you might as well hand in your music appreciation card now because you’ve clearly been using it to shave the edges off that rock you’ve been living under. Easily one of the most interesting, versatile and downright talented pop acts ever to come out of the UK, the mystery man has finally revealed the first single from his first album as a completely independent artist and Dear Nicole is a pop ballad that builds in all the right ways. It’s produced impeccably (surprising no one) and features a flawless lead vocal from the man himself (surprising even fewer). It might not jump to life like his earliest stuff, but it’s got a delicacy and maturity that will keep you hooked until that beat drops. Once it does, you’ll be hovering over the repeat button.
