It’s the first Music Monday of 2014 and I am pleased to report that the January music drought hasn’t QUITE kicked in yet and while there is one track here that came out all the way back in 2013, chances are you haven’t heard it yet. You know what Charles Manson said in that Simpsons episode; ‘If I haven’t seen it, it’s new to me’. So don’t worry too much about that. Just take a listen and let these tunes brighten up your Monday a little!

Mint Royale feat. Willem Dafoe – Ring

Yep, you read that correctly folks, Willem Dafoe; the green goblin himself features on this new track from Mint Royale (who you might remember for that bad ass Singing in the Rain remix that got raped by Britains Got Talent a few years ago) and it is a beauty. Christmas is over, the new year has begun and you need something to inspire you. Ladies and gentlemen your prayers are answered. An ambient electronica soundscape backs up Willem’s monologue, building audibly before the track bursts into a half time refrain with dutch synths and distorted guitar riffage. Think of it as an Everybody’s Free (to wear sunscreen) for 2013. Glorious stuff.

Girl’s Day – Something

K-pop fans got a little post Christmas treat last week with the return of Girl’s Day.The four piece have only gone and dropped Something, a sultry, sexed up, RnB-pop bomb that’s ready to explode inside your headphones. It’s a departure for the girls but it suits them well. And that’s not just my hormones talking. I promise.

Signed,
Andy’s hormones.

Philter – Run Baby Run

Norwegian electronica producer Philter is definitely one to watch in 2014. He’s been steadily on the rise for a while now and his latest output is out of this world. Run Baby Run is an ethereal, ephemeral aural delight that’s perfect for the following situations:

– Chilling out after a long work day.
– Coming to emotional realizations.
– Producing preposterous descriptions for music and using too much literation.
– General enjoyment and supplementing happiness.

Get listening.

Rapper Who is Nice vs Rapper Who is Mean

I would apologize for including this, but I don’t want to. So I won’t. The Rapper Who is Nice and the Rapper Who is Mean join forces here to tell you about why they’re good role models for you and your children. The result is nothing short of hypnotic.
