Alright, we’re already eating out of the hands of ‘Dark Souls II’ right now. We can’t wait. Everything we’ve seen looks absolutely amazing and we wish the release date of March 14th would come sooner, but here’s the thing that’s really getting us excited; 6 original shields designed by the ‘Dark Souls’ community have been selected by ‘FROMSOFTWARE’ to appear in ‘Dark Souls II’.
This is the kind of thing we love to see. It’s great when we, the audience, actually have a say and input into elements of the game. It’s a great idea and I’m over the moon that ‘Dark Souls II’ is including us.
Namco Bandai launched a ‘Shield Design Contest’ back in May 2013, and the winners have now been unveiled. As well as a copy of ‘Dark Souls II’, their shield as a usable item in the game and being fully credited for their design, the winners Denis “DasHurz” Bachmaier, Charles Collier, Illim, Gabriel Verdon and Alexandre Etiennes Jonathan Du Cass will all each receive a full scale replica of their original shield. These will be created by the blacksmiths of ‘Armedia’, a company specialized in the creation of medieval weapons and accessories.
In addition to the shields revealed, two more will be revealed on January 31st.
