Everyone knows the internet is full of the most interesting bric-a-brac you could ever want, but in this article, we’re going to look at my eight favourites. I’ve scoured the net to find the most bizarre, yet awesome, items available to us to purchase online!
1. The ‘Sugoi Mop’
Described as ‘the toy for lazy people’, I can’t help but think that this may be the greatest thing ever invented. Not a fan of cleaning? Would you rather play video games instead? 2. The ‘Jesus Kite’
Do you find that Sunday worship isn’t enough when getting your religious message across? Why not show your Lord in the sky for all to see with this incredible kite! I genuinely can’t pick my favourite thing about this kite, but I think it has to be his highly beautiful and detailed face in contrast to the cartoony block hand that waves to all the spectators lucky enough to witness this Holy kite. 3. Bubble Wrap Suit
Important business meeting coming up? Hot date? Or maybe you just want to look classy and fun in all your day-to-day activities. Well, look no further than this extremely practical and fun bubble wrap suit! One can’t even begin to fathom how much fun you could have with this thing. Boring meeting with your convention director? Pop pop pop! What about that girl you took out on a date who proceeded to argue with herself about which Winchester brother was hotter? Pop pop pop! My only worry is that this may be a one-trick pony. Literally, like, after the pony does the trick, it dies. 4. Cat-Ear Headphones
Another gem from Japan Trend Shop, this may be the most adorable and awesome things I’ve ever seen. Whether you want something cute to complete your kawaii cosplay, or you just want to draw attention to yourself on the bus to work or college, these are what you’ve been looking for. Currently sold out on Japan Trend Shop, but never fear! You can pick these cuties up on eBay for about $39!
5. ‘Doctor Who’ Body Pillow
Ladies and gentlemen, I have no words. If you’re a regular convention attendee, you’ll be used to seeing these body pillows (known also as ‘waifu pillows’ and ‘dakis’) at various merchandise stands. They usually feature female anime characters, but this artist has gone the extra mile to make sure these pillows span all interests. The art is absolutely incredible on these, and are perfect for any Doctor fangirl. The best part is, if Tennant isn’t your thing, you can just flip it over to view Smith’s alluring gaze, and vice versa. Personally, I’m gonna hold out for the Sylvester McCoy version, thank you. 6. This ‘Fluttershy’ Costume
I actually don’t even know where to begin. This masterpiece comes for ‘Yandy.com’, a controversial online store who are famed for their skimpy costumes. After a recent case regarding their ‘Sexy Big Bird’ costume, from ‘Sesame Street’, this shop seems determined to sexualize everything and anything they can, including poor Fluttershy. Not only is the quality horrendous, but it’s so out of character. If you’re going to make a Fluttershy costume, keep it accurate to Fluttershy. Oh wait, my bad, this costume is actually entitled ‘Yellow Pony Costume’. Silly me, I could have sworn it was her. If you’re brave enough, they have one for each of the Mane Six. 7. USB Squirming Tentacle
I don’t know why I want it, but I do. Maybe you just want to add some character to your laptop? Maybe you want to… no, actually, I can’t think of any reason this would actually be useful. BUT, what you could do is buy one of those USB devices that branches off into like 6 other USB ports and make USB Cthulhu! Available from http://www.thinkgeek.com for only $14.99!
8. Aerogel
Readers, you listen to me right now. Nothing will ever be as cool as Aerogel. Boyfriend/girlfriend? Nope, Aerogel is cooler. Winning the lottery? Only cooler than Aerogel if you intend to use all your winnings to buy Aerogel. What is it, you ask? Aerogel is a material that’s been made from a gel, but the liquid component has been replaced with gas.
Known also as frozen smoke, Aerogel is a solid with an extremely low density, but can support a large weight on itself! You can see it here supporting a 2.5kg brick with itself only weighing 2 grams. How can it be any cooler? This thing is a solid gas with almost no weight than can support bricks. Also, it’s squidgy and fun to play with.
