News: Wonder Woman meets Bats and Supes!
“I can tell you that she’ll be somewhere between twenty five and thirty three – or at least leave the impression of a woman in that age range, whatever that might be. I can tell you that she needs to be physically strong. They’re specific about that. And I can tell you that the discussion in some agencies who have been submitting actors for this role is that they’re sending up candidates for the role of Wonder Woman. They don’t know that it’s her, it’s just become their expectation, or at least a rumour that’s coloured their conception.”
The news above broke over on Bleeding Cool and is spreading through comic and movie circles, appeasing long standing Diana of Themyscira fans that their favourite warrior princess would finally emerge into the world of current big super hero movies. For now though it’s just a rumour but Brendan Connelly over at BC speculates that the Superman versus Batman movie could be her foot in the door, similar to Black Widows appearance in the second Iron Man movie.
Wonder Woman is not camera shy, she’s been a big character in all Justice League movies and cartoon series, she had her own television series in the 70’s that ran for four years (starring Lynda Carter) but to date she’s never been able to break into movies or shake off that 70’s TV campness and plans for a new television show have been halted.
I’d be eager to see her own movie but I will settle for a chance to see her go a round or seven against Batman and Superman especially if it helps her secure her own movie! We’ll have more news as the story unfolds!
