So have we all had enough to process the news? Peter Capaldi is the next Doctor and it would seem that the community (as expected) is taking this with a very mixed reaction! First though here is the official BBC trailer with Capaldi declaring his claim on the role and the look of excitement in his eyes is bloody infectious!
Now with Matt Smith stepping down and a new man filling the shoes of the Time Lord, fans were (as mentioned above) going to be pretty divided on the appearance of a new Doctor, entire legions of Whovians wept when Tennant left his role as number 10 and was replaced by the unheard of Smith and this regeneration is more heated than the last with a distinct trend of ageism erupting among some fans with many expressing their discontent at the choice of an ‘older’ looking Doctor.
For the most part though fans are happy or curious and willing to let Capaldi win them over! The actor is no stranger to the Who series having starred alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate in the ‘Fires of Pompei’ two part episode (he invented the word Volcano!) and admits to being a life long fan of the show itself. Is Capaldi the right choice for the series?
Only time will tell!
More importantly though… why has John Hurt appeared between the 8th and 9th Doctor? Has our timeline been altered? Roll on the 50th Anniversary special!
