Avi Arad is quoted as saying “For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters – and video games are the comics of today,”. His words were uttered at the 25th Anniversary Event for Metal Gear where the Marvel movie producer was on hand to help rally fans into an excited hysteria over news that a Metal Gear movie is in the pipeline! The same man is also involved in future plans for films including: Ghost in the Shell, inFAMOUS, Mass Effect, Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins (TV series) (2013), Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid
That’s a lot of video game based movies…treat them well Mr Arad!
The movie wasn’t the only announcement made with Hideo Kojima present to let fans know for upcoming plans for two other projects. The first being a new game only for mobile device users… who live in Japan… ‘Metal Gear: Social Ops’ will be release through Japanese Social NEtworking firm, GREE. Gree CEO Yoshikazu Tanaka was also on hand to help in unveiling the game, which features 3D graphics and has been built using the Unity Engine, gameplay will see users take on some familiar missions from the series.
But wait… there’s more…
As well as all of that Kojima spoke about how the games wrapped up and since then he has been working on new ideas to keep the franchise going and what better way to keep it alive than by further exploring the past. Kojima delighted fans when he spoke of initial plans to bring Big Boss back and set the game around the landings on Normandy but unfortunately that’s all he went into at the time and we’re now left wanting more.
