If your reading this it’s a pretty safe bet you have seen or read Battle Royale. US TV network The CW (Supernatural, Ringer, America’s Next Top Model) are talking to representatives of the movie and the original source novel by Koushun Takami about turning this into a US TV series. No details or agreements have been made, but with the popularity of the Hunger Games and in a time when examples of extreme and often bloody violence is a mainstay of prime time tv shows, this might be the time for Battle Royale: The Show to become a reality.
But there is a question of how diluted and adapted the source material would become to make it work as a weekly show on US TV. The CW are also currently developing a show called the Selection which has a similar premise to the Hunger Games and of course by proxy Battle Royale. So who knows, but lets live in hope regardless.
