Following hot on the heels of yesterday’s Assassin’s Creed news is another possible video game movie adaptation. The rights to a movie version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been snatched up by CBS film. Nothing solid is even concieved of yet and it may never come to fruition. Focusing specifically of the newest incarnation of the cyberpunk RPG world, Human Revolution, with Adam Jansen and not any of the previous games. It has great potential for a dark conspiracy thriller with some amazing visuals, and commentary on what really makes us human.
This isn’t Deus Ex’s first flirtation with the big screen. The franchise first exploded onto our PCs in 2000, and in 2002 Columbia Pictures said they were doing something with the property, Laura Ziskin was attached to produce a script by Gregg Pruss and Willem Dafoe was even rumoured for the cast, but alas nothing came of this and it quietly faded into the shadows of esoteric trivia.
