In some news from left field, not only are they making an Assassin’s Creed movie, but Micheal Fassbender is attached to star and co-produce. Fassbender will be playing the role of Desmond Miles an unassuming barman from a rich and dark genetic history, through the magic DNA technology of the Animus Desmond is forced to relive the previous lives of his ancestors who were all master assassins.
While you might think this is a no brainer, what with Iron Man, Batman and the Avengers movies tearing up the box office. But video games adaptations haven’t had it as good as comic book movie and are still in relative infancy compared to their counterpart medium. But with a giant name like Fassbender attached this might just be the push video games movie need to get legitimised, so I can have my Zelda and Halo movies.

I’m still waiting on Bioshock to be made… That’d be absolutely perfect in movie form I think! Would also love a Portal movie. That fan-made short that was made was incredible!
As for other franchises that are based on video games, the Resident Evil series has drawn more and more crowds to the cinema upon each new release. They may not be perfect, or have much ties to the games’ storylines, but they’re mindless entertainment and that’s what draws the crowds in.
