Friday 13th July draws ever closer and with that in mind the gang behind the convention decided to put together a short fan video. In the last couple of months Cosplay Fan Vids have become huge within the community, fans at home, at school and conventions have taken to make lip-synch videos featuring some amazing cosplayers and with that idea behind them the crew set out to make something of their own!
Back in December, ArcadeCon organisers asked fans to submit their best cosplay photos to take part in a secret project and the response was phenomenal. This however made the job of selecting those who would finally take part in the project a lot more difficult but after a few weeks the group was picked and a shoot was scheduled for early January. This however didn’t take place due to some small setbacks and the project was rescheduled for late February/early March.
Meanwhile the film crew were trying to decide on a new location and a song choice that would fit the theme of ArcadeCon 2012 ‘The end of the World’ – the song needed to make sense to the plot, needed to be catchy and it needed to get people into a happy and energetic mood during filming. After a long meeting the song ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna was picked because out of the dozens of songs listed it was the only one that hit all the necessary criteria.
March 3rd was the date set for shooting, our camera crew were ready, our cosplayers were pumped and our Special FX/MakeUp Artist Eavan Derbyshire had volunteered to paint the gruesome zombies needed for the shoot.
The video you will find below was all shot in one day with the majority of shots done in one take – barring of course the shots where two of our actors had to hold fake blood in their mouths for two scenes (these were shot at least twice and not because it was funny to watch the actors squirm).
