One of the most highly anticipated movies arriving in 2010 is M. Night Shyamalan’s latest offering ‘The Last Airbender’. The @rcade has a sneaky look at what we can expect from this sure fire summer blockbuster.
Based on the Nickelodeon cartoon ‘Avatar’, The Last Airbender is a live action adaptation of the first series. Set in a world where the elements of water, air, fire and earth can be manipulated by people known as “benders”, the movie follows a young boy named Aang (Noah Ringer), who is not only, the last known living air bender, but The Avatar, a being who can control all four elements and is responsible for keeping peace between the four nations. Accompanied by his water bending friend Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), Aang must defeat the threat looming from the fire nation army and restore peace, and avoid being captured by their banished Prince Zuko (Dev Patel). So a busy time all round then eh?
Now we are huge fans of Aang and the whole gang (rhyming is fun) but we are a little cautious, after all M. Night is responsible to bringing us such disasters as ‘The Happening’ and ‘Lady in the Water’ – we still have some time to wait before the Airbender movie graces the big cinema screen but we’d just like to make Shyamalan aware that hell hath no fury like an Avatar fan scorned with a bad movie.
The Last Airbender blows in August 13th.
