Last week saw Rockstar release a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. The trailer confirms the time setting of 1899, 12 years before the original Red Dead Redemption. The game will follow the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch van der Linde gang. Some familiar faces can be seen in the trailer. Check it out below.

The story is said to follow the Arthur and the rest of the van der Linde gang, as they are involved in a robbery that went wrong. It will be the beginning of the end for the gang as a whole, with friction and fracturing begins to appear among the members. As this is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, we already know the outcome of some members, but there looks to be a large main cast, judging by the scenes at campfires.

IGN’s Daniel Krupa and Alex Simmons have also been lucky enough to see and play a 45 minute demo of the new Red Dead. It looks like bank heists, train robberies and hold ups will play a big role in the game. Hunting will also get an upgrade from the previous title. Guns and hunting bows can be used to hunt animals. you can still skin smaller animals for food or pelts. Larger animals can be hauled on the back of your horse to town or campsite, while your heaving weapons will be placed on your horse also. Your horse will also be an integral, as you will use your horse to carry your items and weapons, such as hunting bow. You will have a bond with your horse the longer you have it, as skills and other stats improve over time. But your horse can get into troble and perish, so there will be times you’ll have to decide to risk travelling into danger. Interaction with NPC’s will improve as well. You can talk to, hold up or threaten passer-by’s, while other will react to your stance and whether your weapon is draw or not.

IGN’s break down their impressions via an article and by the video below.

Furthermore, Rockstar also released a number of screenshots via their blog and social media sites. We even see a couple of screens of John Marston. Will he play a big role in the game?

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26th. Are you looking forward to saddling up again in the world of Red Dead?
