Flix On Fleek – What We’ve Been Watching This Week

This week on Flix on Fleek, I have two shows I am currently working on re-watching, so without further ado, let’s take a look at my Netflix playlist!

The League

The League is a sitcom that began in 2009 and lasted seven seasons until 2015. It centers around a group of friends who are part of a Fantasy Football League. Just to clarify, this is American Football and not the Premiere League. While American football is a big portion of the show, it is more the way these friends interact that makes this show fun to watch.

They compete to win the trophy named The Shiva, named after a girl from their high school they all had a crush on. The humour is crude, and sometimes it is over the top, but I really enjoyed it. Netflix recently re-released it and so I felt it deserved a rewatch. Mark Duplass (Pete), Paul Scheer (Andre) and Stephen Rannazzisi (Kevin) have such great rapport, but it is Katie Aselton who plays Kevin’s wife Jenny that sometimes just steals a scene… or the show.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Next on Flix on Fleek, I am also re-watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I have been going back through all the Star Trek shows over the last little while. This is the third live action adaptation of Gene Roddenberry‘s vision. Set on the space station known as Deep Space Nine, this was the first show to begin its series without a Captain.

Led by Commander Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks), the crew of Deep Space Nine defend the planet Bajor, and the entrance to a wormhole. The wormhole provides a path from the Alpha Quandrant to the Gamma Quandrant. The best parts of the show have to be the bromance between Chief O’Brien (Colm Meany) and Dr. Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig) OR the constant face offs and interesting friendship between the changeling Odo (Rene Auberjonois) and Quark (Armin Shimerman).

Santa Clarita Diet

Santa Clarita Diet has had one season on Netflix so far and the second season came out on March 23. I absolutely loved the first season as it took a genre that some think may be over saturated – zombies – and made it fresh (no pun intended, but hey it works).

Both Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant put on great performances as a married couple. Shelia (Drew) becomes a zombie and at first doesn’t even know she is. It follows this couple and their daughter as they have to deal with her cravings for human flesh. This leads to a few murders that just seem to happen… almost accidentally on purpose. It’s great craic and I cannot wait to begin season two this weekend!

Flix on Fleek – What Are You Watching?

These are just a few of the shows I am watching on Netflix this week. So I guess it comes to the point where I ask you: What are you watching on Netflix this week?

Have you seen any of the shows I am watching? What do you think of them if you have? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
