‘Sledgehammer’ – Peter Gabriel – Track of the Day

0

Today is my birthday, and Peter Gabriel‘s.

To be fair, it’s not like I need an excuse to listen to Peter Gabriel. Or to watch what I consider one of the most iconic music videos of all time. I was blown away by this video when I was a kid. And to be fair, I still find it quite cool.

‘Sledgehammer’ was the first single from his fifth solo album So. Aardman Studios worked in the animation, and it shows. The video won 9 MTV Video Music Awards back in 1987 and holds the record of most wins by a single video.

And because Peter Gabriel is awesome, I’m also including a live version of the song. My favourite part of this video is the strut he does with Tony Levin and David Rhodes when the song reaches the final part. It’s so cool that I wish I had two other people with me at all times to do it, but then I’m sure I’d be late everywhere so I’m not sure if I should.
