There has been 13 years since the final film of The Matrix franchise, Matrix Revolutions, was released. According to Yahoo Movies, there are conditions that could be met to see a fourth film in the sci-fi franchise. In an interview, Keanu Reeves said there were situations that could arise to see him reprise his role as Neo.
The Wachowskis would have to be involved. They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not? People die, stories don’t, people in stories don’t.
Personally, I feel this franchise is done and we should just leave it alone. Many people still enjoy these films, and I am sure one day Hollywood will reboot it. There is no need for a fourth film in this franchise, especially when you consider the way the third film ended. In my personal opinion, I was so disappointed that my time was wasted on the second and third films, I haven’t even gone back to rewatch these films.
The Matrix was a great film, the sequels were alright, and Keanu Reeves launched a career with the films that eventually led to John Wick. However, I think we should just leave well enough alone… Wachowskis or not.
