Oh man, I love this song so much. It’s right up there at the top of the list when it comes to songs with catchy tunes that are named after Mongol Emperors. Other notable entries on the list include ‘Dschinghis Khan‘ by Dschinghis Khan.
Seriously though, I hear even the smallest snippet of it and it gets stuck in my head. The simplest “Doot doot do do doot doot do do” is enough to pollute my brain for daaaayyyyyyys. The same could be said for plenty of tracks from Swedish trio Miike Snow, though. They’ve given me a serious predilection for a genre I wouldn’t normally be crazy about.
Secondly, I adore the music video. I’m a mahoosive fan of the James Bond series, warts and all. This video does a great spin on it. It focuses on the typical Blofeld-style villain in a recreation of the laser scene from Dr. No interspersed with scenes from his unhappy home life. It’s absolutely loaded with homosexual subtext and every bit of it is brilliant, even the background henchmen. ~OoooOooh.
And then, boom, the subtext is just text. They’ve even learned each other’s dances! And look how happy Dr. Evil Bald Guy is!
I’ve gotten so many great reaction gifs out of this. It’s really just the gift that keeps on giving.
