The spiritual successor to P.T., Allison Road, has once again entered development. After being cancelled in June, the first-person horror game is back on track for an eventual release.

The game’s creator, Christian Kesler, made the reveal through a statement to IGN, stating: “I’m actually really happy to be able to announce that [Allison Road] will continue. We had a lot of support online and some folks out there are just incredibly nice.”

Kesler will be going forward with the game under his new development company Far From Home, which he’s co-founded with his wife.

In the statement, Kesler elaborated on the difficulty of the decision to resume course after the initial cancellation. “After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far — the whole journey, so to speak. I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow, little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life.”

Allison Road had initially been a purely independent creation, with a successful Kickstarter. However, the crowd-funding was dropped when a deal with publisher Team17 came to fruition, before the sudden announcement of development ceasing in June of this year.

The game has developed a large cult following online thanks to similarities to P.T., the Konami-released  horror puzzle game that served as a teaser for the now also-cancelled Silent Hills.

There’s no release window for Allison Road, but Kesler is confident in his abilities to see it through this time. “For our gameplay trailer, I did all the modeling, texturing, shaders, lighting, etc., and thankfully a lot of the mechanics are already implemented from the previous development phase, so I can comfortably take the game forward by myself,” Kesler said. “If and when it comes to a point where new features and mechanics are required, or old ones need changing, I’ll go look for support.”
