Ubisoft have released their third-quarter report detailing that the sequel to Watch Dogs will release before the end of April 2017. The statement reads:

Ubisoft will launch a very high-quality line-up, including For Honor®,South Park(TM) the Fractured but Whole(TM), Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® WildLands, the next instalment of Watchdogs®, and a new high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services.

With Ubisoft putting their Assassin’s Creed franchise on hold this year, this should hopefully give them more time to work on Watch Dogs 2. Though it sold well it’s widely known that Watch Dogs was a less than average open world game that mimicked better titles in the genre.

With the creative director Jonathan Morin stating that this sequel will “take risks”, it might lead to something significantly different from what the first game delivered.
