Netflix is at it again, defying the norms of regular TV, by renewing one of its most beloved shows for not one, but three new seasons (can I get an Amen?).
Orange is the New Black already boasts three seasons, with its fourth to come out on Friday June 17. The renewal is for three additional seasons, after the fourth one, so we’re looking 7 seasons of OitNB at least!
This is great news for various reasons, but mostly the fact that the writers can go on to develop more complex and longer storylines. We can’t help but wonder what direction they’ll take the show in now they’ve got this creative freedom. Creator/showrunner Jenji Kohan said,
Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, “May you lead an interesting life,” is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures. Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate!
