According to Marvel, Brazilian actress Sonia Braga has been added to the upcoming Luke Cage Netflix series! Braga is set to play Soledad Temple, the mother of Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson).
Braga has been acting since the late 1960s and made her debut in Kiss of the Spider Woman before moving on to Alias and Royal Pains.
Executive producer and head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, said on the choice, “A character as strong as Claire needs an equally powerful mother, and with Sonia we found the perfect actress to deliver the stellar performance we needed. In Marvel’s Luke Cage, fans will now get a chance to see where Claire got the fire we love her for.”
